With the backing of our large in-house machine and fabrication facilities, our fully equipped tool trucks and portable machining equipment there isn’t a job or project too big or too small for us to handle.

What we're looking for: 

  • Journeyman Red Seal Machinist
  • 10 Years Industrial and Oil & Gas Manual and Field Machining Experience
  • Knowledge in Portable milling, Line boring, Automated bore welding and machining Pipe Flanges Spools
  • Extensive working knowledge of CNC Fanuc Controllers 10 Years and Newer for both Mill and Lathe

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Available to work as required in the field
  • Experience with line boring machining and bore welding
  • Ideally experienced with supervisory level work in the field
  • Good client facing skills and relationships
  • Operate Manual lathe, mill and grinding machines as within your scope of education and qualifications and with all safety precautions in place
  • Change and set cutting tools. Modify and grind tools as required
  • Adjust feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency
  • Measure and inspect parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance
  • Work within very close tolerances
  • Experience with York, Climax and Bortech equipment would be ideal but not necessary
  • Read, study and interpret engineer drawings, blueprints, manuals, specifications, charts and tables
  • Overhead Crane Experience
  • Must be able to read/write/Speak English.
  • Promote the safety program to all employees
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis Worksheets as required
  • Complete daily progress reports and job reports
  • Participate in maintaining all equipment in the machine shop in accordance with company preventative maintenance program
  • Responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed, including QC, QA and HSE.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Experience with hand tools
  • Must have safety shoes with 6” ankle coverage
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be able to do some lifting: Lift up to 50 pounds (not continuous)
  • Other various general duties to be assigned

Job Description:

The Estimator will perform take‐offs from Machining / Manufacturing drawings and or perform walk down inspections to calculate the costs of labour and material for machining / manufacturing work in accordance with customer processes and procedures.

The job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Gathering and retaining current and accurate data on costs of goods, materials, market labour and equipment rates from suppliers and sub‐trades
  • Soliciting supplier quotation for material, equipment and sub‐trade quotations, whether internal with ALCO Divisions or from an external supplier
  • Attending pre‐tender meetings, including estimate reviews and tender closings
  • Assist in preparing detailed, accurate, professional quotes by calculating material and labour costs with, equipment and labour rates for tender verification
  • Identifying the most competitive methods based on scope of work analysis
  • Reviewing and evaluating proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and the content to quote
  • Quantifying all aspects of the tender document, including tender requirements, written specifications and project drawings
  • Reviewing estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to final quotation
  • Preparing final estimate summaries, ensuring they address scope, pricing and comprehensiveness
  • Review quote estimates with Senior management as appropriate or as directed to by management
  • Preparing tender for construction revision and costs impact
  • Preparing and scheduling cost impact for tender to construction

Skills:

  • 5- 10 years Estimator with Machining and Manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Machining, Millwrighting & Mechanical aptitude or technical inclination required

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or millwright/machinist ticket
  • Minimum 5 years’ Estimating Machining / Manufacturing Experience
  • Clean Drivers abstract
